Onboarding Quick Start: Verify, Link Your Bank & Connect JobTread

Three steps to finish setting up your Truss account. About 5 minutes, start to finish.

Step 1: Verify Your Identity

Thread Bank, the bank behind Truss, requires identity verification (IDV) on every account before money can move. Here's how to knock it out:

  1. Log in to your Truss dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings → Identity Verification, or use the banner at the top of your dashboard if it's still pending.
  3. Enter your legal name, date of birth, and SSN or ITIN.
  4. Upload a photo of a government-issued ID: driver's license, passport, or state ID.
  5. Submit. Most verifications clear within a few minutes.

Step 2: Add Your External Bank Account

Linking an outside bank account lets you move money in and out of Truss.

  1. From your dashboard, go to Settings → Linked Accounts (or Add Funds → Link a bank).
  2. Select Add external bank account.
  3. Search for your bank and log in through Plaid, or enter your routing and account number manually.
  4. Give the account a nickname. This helps if you link more than one.
  5. Once confirmed, the account is ready to use for transfers right away.

Step 3: Connect JobTread

JobTread connects directly to Truss. No QuickBooks Online relay needed for this part.

  1. In JobTread, go to your integrations or connections settings.
  2. Select Truss and log in to authorize the connection.
  3. Once connected, a JobTread invoice comes into Truss as soon as someone clicks Pay Now on it.

⚠️ Also connect QuickBooks Online
The direct JobTread connection doesn't replace QuickBooks Online. If you use QBO, connecting it matters: it's how bills get into Truss and how your bank feed and reconciliation run. Skipping this step means those two things won't work, even with JobTread connected. Set up both for full coverage. See Connect QuickBooks Online to Truss for the setup steps.
