How recurring payments work with Truss + QBO

Truss doesn't have a built-in recurring payment scheduler — but if you use QuickBooks Online, you can set up Recurring Transactions in QBO, and they'll sync to Truss automatically when each payment is due.

Step 1 — Connect QBO to Truss

Make sure QuickBooks Online is already connected: Settings → Integrations → QuickBooks. If it's not connected yet, see the Connect QuickBooks article.

Step 2 — Create a Recurring Transaction in QBO

  1. Log into QuickBooks Online.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon (top right).
  3. Under Transactions, select Recurring Transactions.
  4. Click New.
  5. Choose transaction type: Bill (vendor payment) or Expense (direct payment).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Fill in: Vendor name, Payment amount, Payment schedule (Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly), Start date and End date (or leave open-ended).
  8. Click Save Template.

Step 3 — Sync appears in Truss

When QBO generates the next instance of the recurring transaction, it syncs to Truss within 1–3 minutes. The bill appears in your Truss Bills list ready to pay — just like any other QBO-synced bill.

Tip: You still need to approve and send each recurring payment in Truss — they don't auto-pay. The recurring setup just makes the bill appear in Truss automatically so you don't have to create it manually each time.

Heads up: If you edit the recurring template in QBO (change amount or schedule), resync the bill in Truss to make sure Truss has the updated details.
