Why does Truss ask for personal and business information?

Federal law — specifically the Bank Secrecy Act and FinCEN regulations — requires all financial institutions to verify the identity of account holders and beneficial owners before opening an account. This is the same requirement at any US bank.

What information is collected

  • Business EIN (Employer Identification Number)

  • Business formation document (Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Organization, or Partnership Agreement)

  • Full legal name, date of birth, address, and SSN for each owner with 25% or more ownership

  • Government-issued photo ID for each beneficial owner

How your information is protected

Truss uses bank-grade encryption and works with large regulated financial institutions. Your personal information is never sold. It is only used for identity verification as required by law.

What if my application is under review?

If your account requires a manual review, you'll receive an email. Most reviews complete within 1–2 business days. Email any requested documents to support@trusspayments.com with your company name in the subject line.

Tip: Don't have your formation documents? You can get them from the Secretary of State website for your state, or from your attorney or CPA.
