When to use Mark as Paid

If you paid a vendor using a method outside of Truss (cash, a different bank account, physical check, credit card), you can mark the bill as paid in Truss to keep your records clean.

How to mark a bill as paid

  1. Go to Bills.

Expanded Payments section in the sidebar navigation showing Invoices and Bills, with Bills selected

  2. Select the bill you want to mark.

  3. Click Mark as Paid.

Mark paid button with a checkmark icon

  4. Select the payment method used (ACH, check, cash, card, etc.).

  5. Enter the payment date.

  6. Confirm.

Heads up: Marking a bill as paid does NOT move any money — it only updates the bill status in Truss. Make sure you've actually paid the vendor before marking it.

QBO sync note

If the bill came from QuickBooks, also record the payment in QBO to keep your books in sync. Mark as Paid in Truss alone does not update QBO.
