How to accept a payment sent to you through Truss
On this page
Got a payment through Truss? Open the link, choose a Truss account, bank transfer, debit card or mailed check, and confirm. No Truss account needed.
A business that uses Truss sent you money. You don't need a Truss account to accept it. Open the link, pick how you want to get paid, and confirm. Most people are done in a couple of minutes.
Open your payment
- Find the payment email (or text) from Truss. It shows who sent the payment, the amount, and a description.
- Click Accept Payment. A secure checkout page opens.
- If you're asked for a verification code, enter the code we send you to continue.
Questions about the payment itself? The email lists a contact for the business that paid you. Reach out to them about the amount, the invoice, or what the payment covers.
Review what you're getting paid
The Your payments screen shows your Total available and every payment waiting for you. Each one lists the sender, a reference number, the description, the date and the amount.
- Check the payment details.
- Click Accept payment. If more than one payment is waiting, you can accept them together.
Choose how to get paid
On Choose how to get paid, pick one of four options:
- Truss account: instant, no fee.
- Bank transfer (ACH): 1–2 business days, no fee.
- Debit card: instant, 1.75% fee. On a $2,000 payment, that's $35.
- Mailed check: 5–7 business days, no fee.
Truss account
Pick this if you want the money right away with no fee. You'll open your own Truss account as part of accepting the payment.
- Click Truss Account.
- In Open your Truss account, check that the email is yours and set a password.
- Read and accept the agreements, then click Continue to finish your application.
Verification comes first. You'll finish identity verification before your Truss account is ready. If we ask you for more documents, that step can take longer. See My application is stuck or I was asked for more documents.
Bank transfer (ACH)
Send the money to an account you already have at another bank, with no fee.
- Click Bank Transfer (ACH).
- Choose how to connect the account. Connect with Plaid (recommended) lets you sign in to your bank and verifies it right away. Enter manually lets you type your routing and account number.
Banking with PNC or Chase? Your account number will look different. PNC and Chase give apps like Truss a different account number when you connect your account. The number you see in Truss won't match the one on your bank statement. That's expected, and your payment still goes to your account.
After you confirm, you'll see an expected by date for when the deposit should reach your bank. Once you accept the payment, your bank decides when it processes the deposit and makes the money available. If it hasn't arrived by the expected date, check with your bank first.
The sender can't pull money from your account. Connecting your bank account only lets money be sent to you. The business paying you can't take money out of it.
Debit card
Get the money instantly on a debit card for a 1.75% fee. Debit card transfers are handled by our partner Astra, so the first time you choose this option, you'll verify your business.
You only verify your business once. Adding your business details is a one-time step for instant transfers to a debit card. The next time you get paid by debit card, you skip it and go straight to your card.
- Click Debit Card.
- On Verify your business, enter your first and last name exactly as they appear on your debit card. Check your phone number and email.
- Under Business information, enter your legal business name (or your own name if you're a sole proprietor) and your business address.
- Click Submit, then add your debit card.
The name must match your debit card. Enter the name printed on your debit card, and use a card in your own name. If the name doesn't match the card, or the card belongs to someone else, the transfer won't go through.
Mailed check
Get a paper check in the mail with no fee. Allow 5–7 business days.
- Click Mailed Check.
- Enter the full name the check should be made out to and your mailing address.
- Click Continue to review.
Double-check the address. The check goes to exactly the address you enter here. Include a suite or unit number if you have one.
Confirm and get your receipt
- Review the amount, the sender and how you're getting paid.
- Confirm the payment.
- You'll see a confirmation page. Download the PDF receipt for your records. If you chose bank transfer, this is where you'll see the expected by date for your deposit.
Good to know
- Do I need a Truss account? No. Only the Truss account option opens one. Bank transfer, debit card and mailed check don't.
- Who pays the fee? Bank transfer, mailed check and Truss account have no fee. The 1.75% debit card fee comes out of the payment you receive.
- Stuck on the verification code? See My vendor is stuck at "verify your phone" and can't accept payment.
- Can't finish accepting? See A vendor received a payment link but is stuck and can't complete.
