Each one is tied to a voluntary feature: faster access to funds, extra card-processing protection, or an early advance on unsettled money. Skip Instant transfers, Balance Protection, or Express Payments, and your account carries no fees at all. The platform fee on invoice payments is paid by your customer by default.

Who pays the platform fee on an invoice

Every invoice payment includes a platform fee of 3.25% + $0.30, and the total your customer sees includes it. By default your customer pays it, not your business. You can turn off the platform fee toggle in Settings → Payment Portal to cover the platform fee yourself. That's your choice, not a required cost of using Truss. See Who Pays the Platform Fee? for how that setting works.

Pay by bank transfer (ACH) and we waive the platform fee in full, whichever way that setting is turned. Customers can also split a single invoice payment between a card and bank transfer, and we waive the platform fee on the bank transfer portion.

What you earn along the way

These aren't fees. They're what your Truss account pays you, automatically, no toggle required.

  • Interest on your account balance (see your current rate in the app under Accounts → Cash)
  • 2 points earned for every dollar spent on all eligible card purchases

For how interest accrues and when you get your tax form, see Earn Interest on Your Balance & Your 1099-INT.
