What is Tap to Pay?

Truss supports Tap to Pay on iPhone — a feature that turns your iPhone into a contactless card reader. Customers can tap their credit or debit card (or Apple Pay / Google Pay) directly to your phone to pay an invoice on the spot.

Tip: No card reader, no extra hardware, no monthly device fee. Your iPhone is the terminal.

Requirements

iPhone XS or newer running iOS 16 or later
Truss mobile app (latest version from the App Store)
NFC enabled (it is by default on all compatible iPhones)

How to use Tap to Pay

Open the Truss app on your iPhone.
Go to Invoices and open an unpaid invoice.
Tap Accept Payment → Tap to Pay.
Enter the amount (or confirm from the invoice).
Hold the iPhone out to your customer — they tap their card or phone to the back of your iPhone.
The payment processes instantly and the invoice updates to Paid.

What payment methods are accepted?

Contactless credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover)
Apple Pay
Google Pay and other digital wallets

Fees

In-person card payments through Tap to Pay are charged at the same card processing rate as portal payments. Check your Truss plan for your specific rate.
